how we started
OUR STORY
Brittex International’s story begins in 1977 when Cyril Lavender from London, England and his wife Ruby from Texas started the business – hence the name “Brittex International.”
1973
Brittex International starts, supplying flat roll products from Europe.
EARLY 1980s
Brittex shifted its focus to supplying pipe, utilizing mill connections developed across the globe.
1983
Balor L. Moore, while under contract with the Astros, transitons to a career in the steel pipe industry. Balor works directly with Cyril Lavender, and that’s the start of the new Brittex International.
1985
Current owner, Balor L. Moore assumes ownership of Brittex International.
TODAY
Brittex International is a leading supplier of pipe products to several industries. In addition to welded-to-length pipe, we also provide coating and minor fabrication services.
When Balor started in the pipeline industry, he took one major lesson from baseball: if you don’t produce, you don’t succeed. That spirit of determination, perservance, and self-determination has carried over to the Brittex’s team and their approach to supporting and providing for the industry.

BALOR MOORE, PRESIDENT
Before Balor entered the pipeline industry, he was a professional baseball player in the major leagues between 1970-1980. He first played with the Montreal Expos, and then pitched for the California Angels and Toronto Blue Jays. He retired from baseball in 1981, when he joined Sunbelt, a pipe distributor. There, he met Cyril Lavender and joined the Brittex team soon after. In the 1980s, Balor assumed ownership of Brittex, and led it to where it is today.
BAYLOR MOORE, VICE PRESIDENT
Baylor began working at Brittex in the summers during high school. He worked out in the pipe yard and learned to clean pipe, bevel pipe, weld, and operate a forklift. After graduating he worked some different jobs until finally landing back at Brittex in inside sales in 2004. Baylor married his wife, Stephanie in 2005 and they have 2 children together. When not at the pipe yard, he enjoys fishing and hunting, and spending time with his family.
